Meet the Team
Break away from the pack by choosing a locally owned, locally based, but internationally loved, London cycle tour company.
For the past 14 years we have created and perfected small group bike tours that follow the road less travelled, whilst showing off London in all its glory – hidden nooks & crannies, iconic monuments, secret alleyways, street art locations, local food markets and quaint old pubs with character and warm English beer (like all good things in life, an acquired taste!).
We’re thrilled to have been part of so many memorable traveller experiences, and honoured to have received over 4,000 5* reviews on Google, TripAdvisor and GetYourGuide. Though, the key to our success will always be our wonderful team of guides – actors, performers, singers, sword fighters, even the odd cyclist! They’re waiting to entertain and enlighten you with tales of the city’s bizarre past and present.
So if you’re yearning for an insider’s peek, and to truly experience a Londoner’s London, then seek no more fellow traveller and BrakeAway today!

Paul
Guide/Troubleshooter
Hailing from the north of the country, Paul is our Shakespeare expert. It won’t take him long to break out into a monologue (or a song or two if you’re the unlucky ones). For any of you that are fans of immersive theatre company ‘Punch Drunk’, you may have seen Paul in action in their award winning production of ‘The Drowned Man’. Paul is also our resident bike mechanic and bad-joke-teller, so at least if you get ‘tyred’ of his jokes he’ll be able to pump up your wheels.
Favourite London Fact:
It is illegal to enter the Houses of Parliament in a suit of armour – Paul has first-hand experience!

Fanny
Manager/Guide
Hailing from beautiful Oss in the Netherlands, Fanny is our managerial maestro who keeps the guides in check and the customers happy! When not cycling Fanny’s a keen artist – you might have the fortune to see one of her new creations in the Banksy Tunnel – and enjoys taking walks in the rain (she’s in the right place here!). Providing a unique perspective of the city, Fanny is sure to give you an experience you’ll be talking about – in any language!
Favourite London Fact:
Dutch ships that land their cargoes in the City of London are never charged the harbour fees that apply to all other nations. This by way of thanks to our generous-spirted Dutch friends, who kept trading with London during the Plague of 1665.

Pat
Guide
Pat has been living in London for over 20 years and guiding for almost 10! Want to preview Pat’s silky voice before you come – you can. Pat famously recorded Chris Froome’s autobiography ‘The Climb’. Pat is also descended from Jeremiah Colman, the inventor of Colman’s Mustard. You can be sure Pat is from great stock and as English as roast beef!
Favourite London Fact:
Tower Bridge is the only London attraction which is open when it’s closed and closed when it’s open!

Ollie
Guide
Perhaps the 3rd most notable individual to emanate from the South London borough of Croydon, (after Kate Moss & Stormzy), Ollie is well known in the neighbourhood as ‘Colonel Sanders of Croydon’, a nod to his many appearances in advertisements for Kentucky Fried Chicken! When not appearing on stage, or fast-food telecasts, Ollie is an eggs-cellent tour guide and our resident comedi-hen. Chick him out on one of our tours!
Favourite London Fact:
Located below Ollie’s favourite London watering hole, the Viaduct Tavern, remain original cells from the notorious Newgate prison. He denies ever having spent a night inside of them, but we have our doubts!

Brendan
Guide
Children’s entertainer, stage performer and balloon décor artiste, the multi-talented Brendan is ready to impart his weird and wonderful take on London, until you’re balloon in the face! Boasting appearances at the Roundhouse, Leicester Square Theatre and the Glastonbury music festival, Brendan is perhaps better known for his appearance in the film, ‘Power Tool Cheerleaders vs the Boyband of the Screeching Dead’, co-starring Charlie Bond and Brooke Shields.
Favourite London Fact:
The Duke of Wellington was credited as the first man who wore trousers. This new sartorial style didn’t always go down too well, though, as he was ejected from the Athenaeum (his private member’s club) for having worn them!

Eldredd
Guide
You’ll be in safe hands with our resident stunt man Eldredd. With multiple strings to his bow, Eldredd is a talented actor and performer but also a fully qualified stunt man, with certificates in stage combat, high diving, rock climbing and bee keeping! You can also see Eldredd appearing in ‘Mary Queen of Scots’ alongside Margot Robbie! With an authentic Anglo-Saxon name (meaning ‘wise advisor’), who better could you have to guide you around London?
Favourite London Fact:
It’s often said that should Big Ben ever strike 13, the four vast lions at Trafalgar Square will come to life…however, you will usually see them just Lion around!

Lisa
Guide
Snazzy dresser, chief glitter-er and all-round wonderful human, a tour with Lisa is sure to be filled to the brim with fun. Outside of guiding, Lisa’s main passion is musical theatre, which has a huge influence on Lisa’s tours. Peppered with interesting facts and a healthy smattering of dad jokes, we defy you not to have a brilliant time on tour with Lisa – weather permitting, you may well return singing in the rain!
Favourite London Fact:
Since the 16th Century, a resident cat has been employed in the British government as a mouser and a pet. The current Chief Mouser, Larry, has been in post since 2011 – he’s outlasted five Prime Ministers!

Senne
Guide
Take the chequered flag with our expert tour guide from Belgium, Senne. Fluent in Dutch, French, English and all things Chocolate & Beer, he recently appeared in the BBC production, D-Day: the Unheard Tapes, and will soon star in ‘Lemons’ at the Riverside Studios. Guaranteed to get your pulses racing, make sure to take a ride with Senne whilst in London.
Favourite London Fact:
Contained below the Church, All-Hallows-by-the-Tower is authentic 2nd Century Roman paving, a 7th Century Saxon arch and the heart of the King Richard I – Senne would like to find out what happened to the rest of him!

Chris
Major Nuisance
Owner of the business and there to support the guides. Chris created BrakeAway 14 years ago and has a real passion for London, and all things on two wheels, which filters down to the whole team. Chris has worked hard to create the different tours, and has spent many hours researching the pubs and restaurants that we recommend after your time with us!
Favourite London trivia:
The phrase ‘Barking Mad’ originates from a medieval asylum for the insane, which was part of Barking Abbey, in the district of East London suburb where Chris hails from.
